Occupational Health Nurse

West Rand

One of Africa’s leading pharmaceutical company is urgently looking for a dynamic and driven Occupational Health Nurse based in West Rand Johannesburg. This position is responsible for the management of patients by providing primary healthcare, focusing on disease prevention, and management of minor, chronic and acute illnesses.
Candidate must be able to start Immediately.

Education, Training and Experience

• Professional Registered Nurse
• Post graduate qualification – Occupational Health Nursing
• Dispensing License
• Advance Life Support Certificate
• 2 years related experience.
• Intermediate PC skills including electronic mail, routine data base activity, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Clinic Sister Software
• Must be able to prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks and or projects simultaneously
• This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Documentation & Reports
• Complete all documentation with all details required, every time without error, highlighting any deviations or non-conformance.
• Ensure correct filing and safekeeping of documents.
• Reconciliation of weekly, monthly and annual reports with regards to:
o Injuries on duty
o Sick days & diagnoses
o HIV/AIDS
o Primary healthcare
• Create, prepare and maintain accurate employee files
• Update information on Clinic Sister

Key performance areas
• Pre-employment checkups
• Periodic employee check-ups
• Diagnose and treat work related injuries.
• Initial first aid for illness and injury incidents.
• Review and evaluate diagnoses and treatment plans relating to occupational injuries.
• Provide immunizations, i.e. Flu injections when required.
• Responsible for initiating and maintaining accurate records.
• Scheduling and arrangement of eye screening.
• Scheduling of general information sessions.
• Assist to reduce overall costs with regard to employee injuries, illness, poor health and absence.
• Reinforce employee responsibility for improving health
• Attending Health & Safety meetings.
• Ensure all relevant information is updated and correct.
• Perform regular audits to ensure:
o Hygiene (locker rooms/canteen/toilets)
o Factory
• Health and safety
• Ensure that accidents that may occur are reported immediately
• Ensure that house-keeping is accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Keep work area and equipment neat, clean and tidy.
• Work overtime from time to time, based on operational requirements
• Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices and Safety Regulations at all times.
• Perform any reasonable tasks as and when requested to do so.
• Assist in other Warehouse areas when required
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardisation exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of interactions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
