OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH NURSE

Permanent, full time position
Location: Garankuwa, Gauteng
Salary: R20 000 – 26 000 + – depending on experience
Essential:
Matric / Grade 12 (or equivalent)
Occupational Health Nurse Certificate and registered with Nursing Council
Not less than 5 years Occupational Health Nurse Experience
The main purpose of this position is to offer a primary health care and medical examinations on site

Primary Health Care
• Attend to ill employees by consulting, treating, dispensing and counselling as required.
• Refer emergency or chronically ill patients to consulting doctor and / or a specialist and / or a hospital
• Assess for fitness for work and take appropriate decision, eg, recommend sick leave
• Issuing unfit for work certificates
Emergency / IOD treatment
• Treat IOD patients and / or arrange for specialised / emergency treatment as required.
• Complete IOD administration in conjunction with wage administrator
• Follow up on treatment and resumption Assist with leave forms, sick notes, etc.
Medical examinations / occupational fitness
• Conduct compulsory and annual medical examinations, eg, full medical, acuity, lung function, vision, audiometry, etc.
• Conduct pre- employment and exit medical examinations
• Compile report as required
Medical Supplies and Equipment Control
• Ensure equipment are in working order and calibrated where required.
• Ensure medicines supplies and consumables are in stock in clinic and in first aid boxes
• Ensure expired medicines and used consumables are disposed off as per EMS requirements
Health Education and Awareness
• Create health awareness by education, counselling and presentation / talks
Administration
Create and maintain patient’s files and other administration systems
