Job Description:
The incumbent will responsible to provide a specialised and efficient service in the operation of the ventilation and occupational hygiene control of the Operation.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Budget control, including preparation of budget
• Participate in cost saving initiatives
• Perform routine measurements pertaining to ventilation standards and regulations
• Sample general atmosphere
• Perform air quality surveys and underground water sampling
• Undertake quarterly checks on underground fire-fighting equipment, interpret results and make recommendations
• Organise, plan and control surface fire teams, training and equipment
• Draw up layouts on auxiliary ventilation changeovers
• Responsible for calibration of measuring instruments
• Assist with occupational health investigations
• Manage and control subordinates
• Execute long and short term planning with regard to ventilation and ventilation support services
• Update emergency plans that are required by law, including fire plans and fire breaks
• Review and revise Codes of Practices
• Ensure adherence to Codes of Practice for Medical Fitness, Standards, Procedures and Protocols
• Ensure personal and co-workers adherence and compliance to Security and the Company’s SHE objectives
• Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done

Minimum Requirements:
• Grade 12 with Maths and Science
• Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
• Advanced Certificate in Mine Environmental Control or studying towards obtaining same/minimum of 3 papers (proof will be required)
• Minimum of 5 years relevant underground experience
• PC Literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Windows System
• Valid drivers’ license Other Skills / Competencies
• Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English and one other official language
• Independent, proactive thinker, self-starter
• Ability to work in a team
