Job title: Occupational Therapist

Location: Postmasburg

Job Purpose: The successful candidate will contribute to the effective functioning of the Centre’s treatment and rehabilitation programme and be part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team striving for the highest standards of quality in substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation.

Qualification & Experience:
• Recognized degree in Occupational Therapy
• Current registration with HPCSA
• At least two (2) years’ experience working in a substance abuse treatment and rehabilitation facility
• Older than 25 years of age

Duties and Responsibility
• Develop and maintain the centre’s programmes as a functional member of the interdisciplinary team
• Participate in patient programme planning, reviews and adjustments as and when required
• Ensure that there are sufficient consumables and resources available for the centre programme to operate smoothly and without interruption
• Liaise with external State stakeholders to provide work, learning and recreational opportunities for patients of the facility
• Provide a platform for the implementation of large scale skills development initiatives
• Participate in centre specific marketing initiatives, advocacy events and community education programmes when required
• Manage and supervise the daily activities of the occupational therapy assistants and occupational therapy technicians employed by the facility
• Ensure that occupational therapy department staff are trained on the operation of equipment and activities provided by the department
• Ensure that all equipment is serviced and in working order at all times
• Attend all required interdisciplinary team meetings
• Function as a member of the interdisciplinary team
