About the Client

A young, fast growing business in the fruit production and export industry, consisting of 6 farms and a fruit pack house. Commercially run, shareholders are constantly on the acquisition trial. Operations are situated in the Boland with a staff compliment of 250 permanent employees and growing. Turnover has quadrupled over the last 3 years, both through growth and acquisitions. As the Financial Manager, you will have 6 direct reports and report directly to the CEO.

The Job – Operational Finance Manager
Role Objective
You will drive all financial and accounting functions across the business. Supporting the business strategy and align all financial activities accordingly, set financial policy where necessary. As second in command to the CEO, this role is part of the management committee. This is a newly created position due to growth.

Key Responsibilities

?Financial Management

• Set up efficient and effective reporting processes including group consolidations.
• Oversee budgeting, and the implementation of budgets, so as to monitor progress and present operational metrics both internally and externally across territories and across product lines.
• Ensure that finance team maintains financial record systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Be responsible for the preparation and approval of all financial reporting materials to stakeholders.
• Prepare and communicate monthly and annual financial statements for the total company, as well as by division.
• Manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
• Management of margins in collaboration with sales and production heads by ensuring that contract costs are up to date and all relevant financial considerations are factored into pricing decisions
• Coordinate all audit activities.

Team Management

• Support the CEO, providing financial input, with all strategic and capex decisions
• Develop and manage accounting and administration staff (currently 6)
• Set divisional standards, deadlines and expectations in order to meet business requirements and objectives.
• Engage other members of the senior management team—e.g., research /product development, operations, production, sales and other group companies — to facilitate cross-department collaboration that ensures that all financial and related functions positively support the businesses’ evolving strategy, operational delivery, and data collection needs.

Company Secretarial Functions

• Board Meeting agendas, minutes and resolutions
• Statutory compliance
• Monthly Business Review
• Preparation of monthly reporting pack (co-ordination of reports from various managers)
• Management Committee (Manco) minutes (weekly)

Administration

• Responsible for payroll, commissions, leave.
• Responsible for ensuring information is gathered and recorded in order to ensure company’s BBBEE scorecard is maintained and progressed.

• Newly qualified CA(SA) from a medium sized audit firm OR B.Comm Honours Accounting degree with 5 years relevant experience.
