Qualifications and experience: B Comm. Hons Degree (Majoring in Finance)
5-10 years’ relevant experience as commercial/operational financial manager
Or
CA(SA) with 3 – 5 years relevant experience

Travelling: Travelling to business units based across SA is part of the position therefore applicant must be prepared to travel.

Purpose of the position:
To commercially support, advise and guide their allocated Business Units (BU’s) (+- 11 Business Units) and Admin Managers (enabling them to support their Management teams) and the business to ensure the business maximizes efficiencies within admin processes and optimize the operations and therefore results.

Job Description:

Control, manage and evaluate the full finance support function, including policies and procedures, for the allocated Business Units

• Understand all systems that relate and affect the BU’s identifying potential opportunities to enhance current systems and procedures, evaluating the functioning of new technology
• Work with the Admin Managers to assess current processes and assist with the design, implementation and execution of new processes and policies to ensure that all financial considerations (risks, efficiencies, and effectiveness) are addressed - i.e. Drive the change management and education of finance policies, procedures, processes and templates
• Ensure controls are adequate, and suggest and implement additional controls where necessary, ensuring compliance with legislation and industry standards, effective implementation and understanding of key controls of a process throughout the BU’s (BU’s and any other affected area of the business).
• Manage and mitigate complexity in the business in order to trade
• Monitor and track adherence to the various finance policies, procedures, processes and templates
• Ensure full reconciliation of all income statement and balance sheet accounts, highlight and implement improvements around reconciliation process
• Produce detailed reporting on all financial aspects of the businesses to enable tracking of progress
• Mentor allocated Admin Managers on the consistent application of finance policies, procedures, processes and templates as well as build commercial acumen.
• Monitor and track impact and business benefit of changes in policies and procedures
• Monthly/Bi-monthly BU visits with Admin Managers


Consolidate and interpret allocated BU budgets, forecasts and actual performance
• Liaise with the Admin Manager review budget information received
• Evaluate budget information received and discuss errors or omissions with Admin Manager
• Meet all timelines and have realistic and achievable budgets
• Compile financial forecasts and continuously revise and track the forecasts
• Obtain monthly reports of actuals from each Admin Manager and give guidance
• Compile a monthly report of allocated BU’s


Develop and conduct trend analysis on the financial results
• Review the status of accounting records and ensure that they are timeous and accurate, reviewing reconciliations
• Produce management packs/financial reports to assist in effective and efficient management of the allocated BU’s
• Define a model to determine benchmarking and best practice financial ratios and analysis
• Conduct analysis on financial data and identify trends
• Discuss findings with allocated BU’s and make recommendation for improvements
• Drive implementations and track impact

Audit & Compliance
• Attend allocated BU’s audit feedback sessions and ensure management feedback executed for respective stores
• Analyze and correct route cause of process failure identified by process controllers.
