Operations Manager
DESCRIPTION
Overview:
This role will be accountable for operational aspects of the function or team and has responsibility to contribute to a specific department or group. Focus is on setting systems, processes, priorities and follow-through for execution. Guiding and shaping the department from an operational perspective by utilising previous experience and combining technical knowledge. Does not work under supervision to acquire skills and knowledge.
Responsibilities:
• Annual appraisal and competence development responsibilities.
• Must be able to update Performance matrix every 6 months.
• Conduct daily toolbox and Safety meetings.
• Need to coordinate the internal workshop jobs and plan internal meetings with workshop staff.
• Update weekly on what’s been done and what has to be done.
• Ensure work procedures are followed.
• Ensure that time sheets are filled on a daily basis and constant follow-up are done.
• Must ensure that equipment service reports are filled, signed and filed with proper documentation.
• Update equipment service reports if required and report NCR’s if any.
• Update customers on daily / weekly basis.
• Ensure that the workshop is clean and tidy before going on weekend.
• Must have knowledge about vendor evaluation and customer satisfaction.
• Build up and maintain stock and spare parts.
• Must ensure packing, sending and receiving equipment’s with proper documentation.
• Must be able to review and approve quotations and update and support job procedures.
• Must be able to update and file equipment documentation and third party certifications.
• Will be responsible for training of personnel both internal and external.
Co-ordination of monthly management meetings and follow up on plan of action.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Certification:
• Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering field (Mechanical / Electrical / Instrumentation / Chemical)
• Additional degree in Business Administration would be a plus.
• Very good communication skills (Verbal & Written)
• Very good interpersonal, consulting and presentation skills.
• Strong fundamental knowledge in the related engineering field.
• Independent problem solving abilities and out of the box thinking.
• Ability to adhere to deadlines form start to finish.
• Strong attention to detail and a high level of organizational skills.

Experience:
Minimum 10 years of work experience in the related job function in specific to VALVE SHOP, OVERHEAD CRANE
European or South African preferred
