Job Purpose:
This new position has been created to provide an additional support resource to the Operations and Export departments. The incumbent will report into the Asst. Branch Manager and Deputy Agency Manager and will have Operations or Logistics or EMD or Export Controller experience, all in a ships agency environment.
CORE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Matric with at least 2 years shipping experience within a recognised ships agency environment
OR
• Matric with a recently completed learnership at a recognised ships agency
• Knowledge of Port, Customs & Immigration policy
• Excellent communication skills (Verbal & Written)
• Computer literacy
• Excellent customer service/ relationship skills

DUTIES:
1. FREIGHT
• Capture Shipping Instructions and frame final vessel manifest within deadlines provided by immediate manager.
• Inform clients of stack dates and receive their carrier haulage instructions.
• Monitor and control movement of containers into terminal stack.
• Ensure that bookings on NAVIS are updated at all times, so that shippers, forwarders/agent can update the VGM – assisting with pre advise when required
• Ensure that cancelled bookings/transferred bookings are removed from Navis on the day the vessel sails Cape Town.
• Prepare vessel reefer and specials manifests prior to vessel berthing. All bookings for a particular vessel are in Navis prior to doing the depot releases.

2. OPERATIONS
• Send forecast information to partners and principals at the prescribed intervals (7 days, 5 days, 2 days)
• Monitoring all Dg approvals
• Compiling both the Dg + Reefer lists on every vessel. Ensuring Export provide OOG, reefer, DG manifest timeously
• Making sure that what is tracked is stacked
• Supply detailed schedule information to clients and Principal (berthing prospect) on daily basis
• Dealing with late arrival and after stack application
• Calculating all vessels allocations for CPT, and advising the respective parties.
• Update and enhance Movement Book and allocation vs loading and productivity report
• Creating vessel in local system
• Any additional help that the Planners and agents need.
• Update local system with sailing date and firm stack dates when vessel has sailed
• Send detail of discharge info to Imports and partners within 2 hours of receipt
• Handle all queries diplomatically and timeously
• Supply both provisional and final Terminal departure reports + edtr to be submitted in the prescribed time of 48 hours to Principles and Ports of Discharge
• Assisting with husbandry
• Be able to convert upload and import data into the relevant operating systems

BENEFITS:
In addition to the basic salary:
• Medical Aid (compulsory) through Discovery Health – company contribution is 50 / 50 up to a maximum of R 1450 per month, unless on an existing medical aid and can provide proof thereof. In this instance the value of this benefit is not paid back to the employee.
• Medical Aid Gap cover – The company provides this benefit at no cost to the employee
• Provident Fund (compulsory) – company & employee contribute 6% of the Monthly Basic Salary each
• 13th Cheque – not guaranteed. However if paid, this takes place in December at the discretion of the company Directors. A prorata calculation will apply during the first year of service.
• Group Life benefit – includes Death benefit, Income Protection & Funeral benefit – the company provides this benefit at no cost to the employee

OTHER:
• Hours of work: Mon – Fri, 08:00 to 16:30
