A leading Project House is looking to employ an Outage Planner in the Pretoria offices.

Essential Skills/Experience
Must have a minimum of 3 years outage scheduling experience on coal fired power plants
Must have experience using the planning software Primavera 6
Must be able to develop and lead planning coal fired power plant outages without any supervision
Prior international work experience is a plus
Proven ability to communicate effectively with others (verbally, written and meetings)
Ability to apply Critical Path Method planning techniques to develop detail Engineering and Installation Project networks and schedules
Ability to apply Earned Value Management techniques to measure / status and monitor performance
Familiarity with the Project Management Body of Knowledge approach to Project Management techniques
Proven ability to negotiate, mediate and delegate as well as lead a team
Understand and apply the Quality Management System
Demonstrate awareness and compliance with safe workplace practices and duty of care

Qualifications:
Engineering Discipline Qualifications or equivalent experience

Key Responsibilities:
Perform reviews and provide comments on outage schedule logic, outage activity durations, outage resource loaded schedules for coal fired power plants with sizes ranging from 150 to 700 MW and peaking power stations, (hydro power plants, diesel power plants, open cycle and close cycle power plants)
Perform reviews of outage schedules
Assist with site outage review meeting as request by the Worley Parsons Senior Project Manger
Understand and apply the HSE procedures to ensure safety of self and other workers in the workplace
Understand and apply the procedures forming the Quality Management System
Responsible for implementing modifications to provide a cost effective planning service within assigned budget constraints
Responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personnel and team performance
Focal point for recommending training and development requirements for any subordinate planning personnel
Demonstrate a high level of skill in planning business sectors of the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Project Management modification and maintenance projects using computer based planning and scheduling techniques
Demonstrate Primavera Version 6 Project Planning and Microsoft Project software operating expertise
Demonstrate singular major project planning skills
Work directly with the customers cost and planning requirements to ensure the planning processes, procedures and systems are implemented and subject to continuous improvement reviews
Prepare weekly/monthly reports as required and analyse contractor’s reports
Schedule all HSE issues and relevant HSE plan activities
Liaise with the Management Team on all relevant cost and planning issues
Prepare regular status reports and forecasts for project management and customer reviews
Supervise and develop other planning and specialist support staff at home and/or field office locations
Maintain the current and baseline schedule, analyse the effect of proposed changes and maintain the baseline change control authorisation process
Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the business sector, etc.
Safety – Responsible for personal safety, safe working practices for the business sector, etc. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
