GeoSUN Africa, based in Stellenbosh, is a spin-off company for the Centre of Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies (CRSES) at Stellenbosch University. GeoSUN spesialise in solar resource assessments for the solar energy industry. GeoSUN has one opportunity for a 2018 P1/P2 internship for an Electronic or Electrical Engineering student from a University of Technology.
The requirements are:
* Good English proficiency
* Male candidates preferred (traveling and site work might be required)
* Valid Driver's License with driving experience
* All required subjects passed (no subject that need to be completed part time during the P1/P2 period)
* South African citizen with above average moral values
The successful candidate will be required to assist with:
* On-site measurement equipment installations and maintenance, focusing on measurement instruments, data logging equipment software and
communication systems
* Calibration work at utility scale Solar Plants (many of which are in remote locations in South Africa)
* Office work which could entail data processing, data storage (SQL), data logger programming, weather station pre-setup and testing, etc.
The following will be beneficial but not a requirement:
* Previous experience with data loggers or meteorological equipment
* Afrikaans proficiency (many of the project sites are in the Northern Cape)
* A candidate that can start immediately (prior to officially commencing with P1), even if the candidate has to complete some first semester
subjects (i.e. in a part-time capacity). No outstanding subjects, however, can be completed in conjunction with the P1/P2 period
Salary Range:
* R 6500 - R 7000 per month plus a R 500 cell-phone allowance
