Packing Supervisor – Kwazulu Natal
Salary: R30k CTC

This role is similar to a senior supervisor / foreman of the department, acting as the intermediary between production and warehouse dispatching.

Job Requirements:
• Grade 12
• BTech Operations / Logistics / Relevant or Related
• 8-10 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 7 employees reporting to him / her
• Min 3 years supervisory experience/labour control
• Inventory control
• Any relevant post matric qualifications would be advantageous
• Ability to be self-manage and multitask; Ability to follow directions
• Ability to lead and manage the performance of others; Timeliness

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Labour Control; Staff deployment; Stock Control
• Production control for maximum output
• Planning of Daily Duties
• Generation of Daily/ Weekly / Monthly Reports
• Enforce and Maintain the ISO 9001, 14001, 18001 & 22001 standards using the Work Instructions and SOP’s provided.
• Maintain standard compliance to all Food Safety and Occupational Safety
• Maintain Housekeeping Standards
• Encourage and promote 5’S activities
• Encourage and train staff on KAIZEN
• Cost Control - the Packing Costs
• Willing to work overtime & shifts
• Applicants must have own reliable transport to and from Cato Ridge.
• Ability to be self-managed and multi-task; Ability to follow instructions
• Oracle (Advantageous); MS office and sound computer knowledge

Primary Interactions:
Internal: Plant: Cast Line Operations, Slitter shifts, Procurement and Logistics Departments.

Food Safety
• Read and understand Work Instructions in regards to food safety
• Ensure documented completion of assigned inspections, checklists, and audits
• Ensure proper hygiene practices are followed

5S Initiative
• Understand, support and participate in 5S initiative
• Ensure work areas are maintained to Visual Standards
• Ensure 5S audits are performed and documented at specified time frames for their assigned area during shift

Safety
• Responsible for complying with all environmental, health and safety policies and procedures
• Read and understand all manuals relative to safety, food safety, training and process control-production and equipment safety
• Attend and participate in required monthly safety meetings
• Identify hazards and risk factors in the work area that may affect health or safety and take corrective action immediately. Report those that cannot be immediately corrected to the In charge and/or Safety Coordinator
• Responsible for and ensuring your ability to safely operate line equipment and other equipment (i.e. Hand jacks, hoists and forklifts)
• Ensures the safe handling and labelling of chemicals

Working Conditions/Environment
• This position is based in the Production Packing Department which can be very humid and cold depending on the season.
