Shifa Private Hospital is looking to employ for a Paramedic - Emergency Care Practitioner to work permanent.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

Provide a coordinated patient focused delivery of care, treatment and safe transport for emergency patients in a clinically safe and professional environment, utilising enhanced skills and best practice to determine the course of action necessary to stabilize the patient.

Adhering at all times to the HPCSA Act, rules + regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Grade 12
Diploma / Degree in Emergency Care OR Critical Care Assistant qualification.
Must be registered with the ‘Health Professions Council of SA’. (HPCSA)
Valid & unendorsed drivers licence (PDP)
Defensive driving course (within last 3 years)
Must have evidence of activities undertaken to ensure own professional qualifications are maintained.
1 year Paramedic experience.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

Emergency Patient Care

Note details of caller / emergency incident and advise expected ETA to incident / scene.
Assist in any incidents / accidents on public road provided not already responding to an emergency callout.
Conduct risk assessment of the environment and general situation, having due regard for the health and safety of self, others, and vehicle.
Transportation

Complete all patient and transport documentation. (Electronic / written format)
First Aid

Check / confirm what supplies have been used.
Provide replacement stocks to ‘requestors’
Ensure sufficient stocks available in main clinic, at all times to ensure First Aid ‘boxes’ are able to be re-stocked as and when required.
Order replacement stock and update Stock bins on Medemass.
Manage Emergency Vehicle, Equipment & Stock

Medical Equipment / Medication: Ensure equipment is functional, and medication/consumables are at required stock levels, and stored safely/securely at all times.
Health Information Management System (Medemass)
Escalate issues to Admin Manager.
Administration

Maintain clear/ accurate and legible records, reporting relevant clinical finds, decisions made, information given and any drugs or treatment provided.
Record where there are exceptions to or deviations from standards/ protocols and the reasons for doing so.
Records must be clear, coherent, comprehensive, and factually correct and maintain confidentiality
Customer Service / Team Work

Supervise Basic Ambulance Assistant by ensuring that all work is performed to required standard.
