Recipe (Key performance areas): 

  • Produce high quality pastries and patisserie products according to the approved recipes cost effectively

  • Decorating and plating the pastries and patisserie products

  • Planning the presentation and design of the products

  • Planning the layout of the selection in the store

  • Supervising junior / trainee staff

  • Responsible for overall cleanliness and tidiness of the workspace / kitchen according to health and safety regulations

  • Do inventory checks and managing supplies / stock

  • Frequently interacting with customers

Ingredients (Successful candidate must have): 

  • Matric, a relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a pastry chef / baker

  • Excellent knowledge of baking including the baking time, methods of mixing, temperatures, flavors, shortenings and maintenance of bakery equipments

  • Able to observe sufficient precautions of safety

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Able to operate bakery equipment and maintain the required production

  • Able to bake in large scale with the knowledge of modern bakery equipments

  • Able to work in a high temperature environment

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

  • Time conscious and creative

  • Must be willing to work shifts if so required and long hours

  • Must have a valid and unendorsed driver’s license and access to reliable transport

  • Must reside in the Western Cape
