JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: To ensure that payroll is managed efficiently and effectively for all employees utilising the payroll services.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES)
Responsible for the effective processing of payroll
• Receive and manage the entire payroll process with regards to salary increases, new engagements, claims made, overtime, medical details, resignations, garnishee orders, and leave etc. by agreed deadlines
• Collate, check and input all data received for the month on the system, ensuring 100% accuracy
• Conduct final checks and changes to ensure 100% accuracy
• Make any changes required to reflect 100% accurate information and re-run the payroll by set deadline
• Arrange for authorization and transfer of funds to ensure that sufficient funds are available for payment
• Ensure that salaries are paid on time as per specified pay dates and distribute all employee payslips on allocated days and do payroll back-ups
• Balance and finalise tax year-end. Must oversee tax year-end procedure ensuring that all South-African Revenue Services (SARS) deadlines are met including reconciling P.A.Y.E, IRP5’s etc.
• Ensure accurate final payments are processed and paid timeously when it comes to third party payments.
Responsible for the generation of reports
• Prepare monthly audit reports for the Head of HR Operations that replicate all information captured during that particular month
• Coordinate third party payment reports, check and distribute information to appropriate role players
• Generate and prepare statistical reports with 100% accuracy
• Provide accurate monthly reconciliations on PAYE as well as payments made to pension fund, medical aid etc according to deadlines
• Collate reports on annual tax to date for IRP5’s and ensure that the information balances
Responsible for the execution of payroll administrative duties
• Undertake a wide variety of payroll administrative duties
• Confirm accurate employment details in response to various ad hoc requests
• Respond to pension fund, medical aid, leave and other payroll related queries efficiently
• Manage the administrative requirements of garnishees when necessary


ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• Matric /Grade 12
• Certificate in Payroll and /or Certificate in relevant tax will be an added advantage.

EXPERIENCE:
• At least 5 years’ experience in the same or similar role within a large, diverse organisation

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Payroll administration understanding including implications of data input.
• SAP PY Module Knowledge and usage
• MS Excel, payroll policies and procedure experience
• Exposure to UIF, Tax, Pension Fund and Medical Aid
• Sound knowledge of tax legislation with regard to (P.A.Y.E), Skills Development Levies, UIF etc.
• Good writing knowledge of cashbook, debtors & creditors, budgets and GL journals and recons up to trial balance is necessary
• Ability to work under pressure and according to strict deadlines
• Ability to perform complex tasks and to prioritise under stressful scenarios
