The Payroll Supervisor supervises payroll administration and ensuring that all processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner. The candidate operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in operational processes and relating initiatives.

Be able to conduct Payroll and HR life-cycle monthly planning, estimation and prioritization to optimize the performance of the team.
The Supervisor works with the Payroll Manager to define standards and approaches for Payroll operations.
This individual manages effective internal/external client relationships within own area of responsibility and builds client relationships in the wider group or unit.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Excellent understanding of Income tax act and Labour Law in payroll
? Knowledge of Tax year-end reconciliations and submissions processes in SA and other countries preferably
? Supervise Payroll staff and fill in for the manager as needed and prepare work schedules to ensure appropriate coverage. Escalate potential service issues to Payroll manager.
? Provide guidance to and shares knowledge with colleagues/team members relating to own specialization.
? Assist payroll manager to create annual team objectives.
? Complete tax year-end reconciliations for sign off and submission by Payroll Manager
? Defines standards and reusable approaches within the Payroll operational framework.
? Identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new processes.
? Cover for team members in a back-up role for vacation and/or high-volume work efforts.
? Monthly payroll check and release of 3rd party payments. Ensure checks and balances processes.
? Implement quality control measures and work within the company audit framework.
? Payroll Processing knowledge for various legislation
? Leave management and Leave Audits

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
? Diploma in Finance and or Taxation
? Minimum of 5 years of Payroll experience
? Minimum of 2 years of fast-paced customer experience in supervisory role
? Experience on SAGE payroll systems. (Min 2 years)
? Experience in a shared service environment and a solid understanding of HR cycles.
? Ability to effectively supervise team members and work as a member of that team and organize work activities for other members of that team.
