Our client has two vacancies for Penetration Testers / Ethical Hackers in the information security group. They focus on the processes, methodologies and techniques used to protect information from unauthorised access. The major drive towards the establishment of this group revolves around the need to develop a capability on information security systems. This is also driven by the need for research and development of technologies that can be deployed locally to secure state information without reliance on imported technologies that can be maliciously used to acquire critical information through deliberate or unintended back doors.

You will be responsible to perform passive and active analysis of systems for any potential vulnerabilities or weaknesses; conduct hands-on security evaluations; conduct threat modelling; penetration test applications, web sites, systems and infrastructure; and engineer security solutions to mitigate risk. The job also includes developing and maintaining security tools, techniques and procedures to facilitate security testing, vulnerability detection, validation and mitigation.

Qualifications, skills and experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology;
• Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology will be advantageous;
• Three and more years (3+) working experience in the information security field;
• A solid understanding of information security technology concepts, vulnerabilities, and best practices and must work to continuously improve overall security skills and knowledge;
• Should be familiar with general technical concepts and skills such as operating system functions (Linux and Windows) and networking concepts;
• In-depth knowledge of digital network vulnerability assessment and network auditing;
• Scripting skills in bash, Python, Ruby, Lua or similar;
• General programming skills in C/C++, Object Orientated Programming;
• Experience in some of the following: Remote and on site penetration testing, performing phishing exercises, networking and security including all elements of LAN/WAN internet, vulnerability assessments, intrusion detection, encryption and firewalls.

Key responsibilities:
• Primarily perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on systems. Systems including but not limited to Web applications; network and IT infrastructure.
• Performing penetration and vulnerability testing, including the delivery and explanation of results through reporting.
• Evaluating, developing and documenting vulnerability management tools, procedures and processes as well as overall Cyber Security processes and procedures.
• Conduct both remote and on-site penetration testing based on best practise.
• Development of offence security tools.
• Research security trends and/or publish papers on security and privacy.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior penetration testers and grow the penetration capability within the unit.
