Performance Test Engineer

Our client an international company with offices in South Africa is the leading developer of high-performance networking solutions for cloud, data center, service provider and enterprise communications products. Their flow processing solutions increase the performance of virtualized servers by offloading compute-intensive workloads, such as network virtualization, security, and flow classification, content processing, deep packet inspection and dynamic load balancing. Their products are used by networking OEMs and ODMs worldwide and include FlowProcessors, FlowNICs and FlowEnvironment software. Their processors are supported by comprehensive tools and a broad ecosystem of premier partners.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and capabilities:
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree (B.Tech included) in Computer Science/Engineering with at least five years of relevant work experience. They will consider recent graduates as well as candidates with experience.
• Proficient programming skills (C/C++), Python and scripting languages (e.g. bash, bourne shell)
• Familiarity with databases (MySQL, Postgres), SQL, JSON, Javascript highly desirable.
• Familiarity with revision control tools (Mercurial, Git), build tools (Make, SCons) and bug tracking systems (JIRA).
• Knowledge of major network protocols such as TCP, IP, HTTP, Ethernet, ARP, ICMP, UDP as well as typical network device operations.
• Ability to work in multi-disciplined team environment.
• Ability to plan activities and maintain schedules.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

Responsibilities
Performance test responsibilities:
• Prepare products for general release, assessing performance, standards compliance and interoperability.
• Install and execute performance tests. Analyse and report on results.
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance anomalies.
• Install and execute functional, compliance or interoperability test suites. Report on results. Analyse and resolve problems preventing execution.
• Collaborate with Open Source and industry groups on the design and implementation of performance or compliance tests.
Development responsibilities:
• Maintain internal test suites.
• Design and implement new tests, ensuring they comply with the requirements of the test framework and conform to coding style.
Other responsibilities:
• Design, implement and verify product build, packaging and installation mechanisms.
• Design and implement internal infrastructure to support performance and functional testing.
