Pharmacist

One of Africa’s leading research centers, that engages in research, training, policy-formulation and advocacy concerning HIV-positive people and their children is currently looking for a dynamic and driven Pharmacisit based in Soweto.

To implement the required pharmacy related duties for various studies in accordance with study protocol according to Standard Operating Procedures, Sponsor requirements and local (South African) Regulatory requirements.

Education, Training and Experience
• Pharmacy Degree (registered with SA Pharmacy Council)
• Possess organisational skills, problem solving skills, able to manage time appropriately
• Must possess strong communication skills both oral and written and be a team player
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy is required
• Computer literacy is essential

Key performance areas

• To ensure any pharmacy related problems identified are immediately brought to the attention of the project Manager/PI
• To be the primary liaison for protocol with the study PI and/or Director where applicable, for any pharmacy related issues
• To ensure that medication (treatment/study drug) is ordered, received, dispensed, returned and destroyed appropriately according to specific sponsor/study/local regulatory requirements and to ensure that these actions are documented accurately and timeously
• Ensure that drug accountability is done and completed accurately for each subject enrolled in a study according to guidelines and regulations described above
• Ensure that accurate compliance monitoring is done and documented appropriately
• Implement adequate controls to ensure the safe storage of investigational products such as temperature monitoring.
• To instruct each subject/participant on the proper use of the drugs that they are taking, and stress the importance of following these instructions and to take any required corrective actions where problems have been identified
• Contribute to the pharmacy’s expansion plan where required to assure adequate and effective running of the pharmacy
• Meet with sponsor/programme personnel at regularly and with regulatory personnel at any monitoring/auditing visit(s)
• Develop programme specific and general pharmacy plans in accordance to sponsor/programme requirements
• Develop pharmacy related SOP’s
