With a 22-year history in the managed care of diabetes, The Company has facilitated the establishment of a nationwide Preferred Provider Network (PPN) of an extensive trained Diabetes Teams that delivers a comprehensive Diabetes Management Programme (DMP) for the treatment and management of diabetes. Currently over 21, 000 patients are serviced nationwide with this model of care.

Position Purpose

                    

An exciting opportunity exists for a pharmacy manager, to manage a specialised diabetes focussed retail pharmacy in Johannesburg. The role of the Pharmacy manager is to ensure the:

  • Efficient operations management of the dispensary and the front-shop
  • Effective interaction with senior management and other internal clients
  • Quality control and management within the designated environment
  • Business marketing and promotion

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Plan, direct modify and revise the pharmacy procedures and dealings.
  • Ensure that the pharmacy is open for the trade and handling the prescriptions during the registered opening duration.
  • Ensure that the pharmacist is present on the premises throughout the working hours to provide the pharmacy service when required.
  • Deliver superior customer experience and satisfaction ensuring queries are resolved effectively and efficiently.
  • Working with other healthcare personnel as part of positive stakeholder management.
  • Safe and responsible stock management, shrinkage control, and general administration in line with company expectations.
  • Strongly motivated and competent staff, managed and scheduled such that customer and company related objectives are met.
  • Staff Management, i.e. duty allocations, supervisory role, performance appraisals, locum sourcing to cover shifts, leave allocations, etc.
  • Manage the training of Pharmacist Assistants and/or Pharmacist Interns.
  • Ensure that the staff complies with proper standards of personal hygiene, appearance and presentation.
  • Compilation of monthly reports detailing programme progress.
  • Review and analyse requisitions and be aware of the new medical preparations which our being recommended for the use of patients.
  • Ensure business viability, sustainability and growth, in line with company financial and growth targets.
  • Maintain a standard system for keeping the records of the medicines and account of the payments and dues payments received and due and all the other accounting information relating to the pharmacy.
  • Preparation of annual budget of the pharmacy.
  • Attend management and functional Meetings as well as arranging staff participation in Infection Control and Health and Safety Meetings.
  • Take responsibility for the contract with the SA Pharmacy Council and all contractual matters concerning the pharmacy.
  • Ensure compliance to legislative requirements and that all relevant Registers are properly maintained according to the Regulations and statutory requirements.  
  • Be registered as responsible pharmacist on commencement of duty.

 

Requirements

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Registered Pharmacist (South African Pharmacy Council)
  • Minimum 10 years’ retail pharmacy experience
  • Minimum 2 years’ pharmacy management experience – preferably as responsible pharmacist
    • Vast knowledge of Medical Aid’s rules, policies, etc.
    • Code 08 Driver’s License
