My client, a leading Private Hospital Group, is looking for a qualified and experienced Pharmacy Systems Support Manager at their head office in Sandton.

The Pharmacy Systems Support Manager will act as a conduit between the Pharmacy Division and the IT Division
to ensure that all business processes and strategic projects of the Pharmacy Division are supported by
Information Technology.
The incumbent will further assume accountability for all related activities and end to end implementation
according to the policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of the Group.

KEY WORK OUTPUT AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Pharmacy technology management
Accountable for the end to end roll out and implementation of systems required for strategic projects in the
Pharmacy Division.
Ensure the appropriate number of resources and capability to deliver industry best practice development
outcomes for strategic pharmacy projects.
Ensure that the overall designs of the systems are robust and adequately address all business requirements.
Manage all the relevant internal and external relationships both technical and non-technical.
Accept overall responsibility for internally developed product maintenance and management.
Ensure process design within the pharmacy related systems.
Conduct process and system reviews to identify risks and areas for improvement.
Be at the forefront of innovation of Pharmacy / Billings and Procurement processes.
Extract efficiency from the SAP system to enhance Group performance.
Translate the business needs into functional design specifications in conjunction with the IT Division.
Ensure close involvement with the development checking of every phase in conjunction with the IT Division,
before UAT.
Participate actively in user acceptance testing.
Ensure final sign off of UAT.
Ensure business process mapping, completion of user manuals and the testing of manuals to the system.
Ensure data analysis and participation from a systems perspective in DSP’s.

Communication and support
Assume responsibility for change management activities and the communication of all changes to the
business, explaining the reasons for the changes, the implication of changes and complete Standard
Operating Procedures.
Provide feedback and support on all new and current processes.
Facilitate workshops for system and process improvement and transfer results into business requests and
design specifications.
Conduct training for Group wide projects.

Audit function
Audit documents to monitor the implementation of new systems.

Build and maintain stakeholder relationships
Manage and promote relationships with key stakeholders; including management, 3rd-party
vendors and other groups within the organisation.
Work effectively and co-operatively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships that
are mutually beneficial.

Understand the Group and specifically the Pharmacy Division’s (private and public) strategic

Accountable to implement projects that will lead to the expansion of the pharmacy product and service
offering.
Establish and build relationships with key stakeholders in the private pharmacy industry.
Where appropriate, establish and build relationships with the public stakeholders.
Identify opportunities within the South African pharmacy industry.

Best practice bench marking
Remain abreast of pharmacy related technology and work with the IT Division to provide technology
thought leadership, which is embodied in the IT strategy and architecture.

People management
Assign decision making, authority, tasks and responsibility to appropriate persons in order to maximise
organisation and employee effectiveness.
Facilitate a culture that is supportive of talent management and the initiation of required implementations
to hone pharmacy talent.
Facilitate effective change and conflict management.
Ensure professional conduct and appearance of staff.
Develop talented pharmacy leaders and high performers.
Promote staff wellbeing.
Guide and act as mentor to the support team as they deliver a service, providing high quality information
and support.
Allocate incoming requests to the team, prioritising actions and monitoring team resources.

SKILLS PROFILE
EDUCATION

A relevant Pharmaceutical qualification (B.Pharm Degree or Dip Pharm) or equivalent NQF 7 qualification.
Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council.
A relevant management qualification is advantageous.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Experience as a Pharmacy Manager.
SAP experience.
Previous experience in the management of a Private Hospital Pharmacy would be advantageous.

KNOWLEDGE

Advanced level of computer literacy.
Sound knowledge and understanding of processes, risks and mitigation of risks through processes and
systems.
