To provide leadership and expertise in comprehensive clinical management and support of HIV exposed infants and HIV infected women. To perform HIV PCR testing for HIV exposed infants and provide postnatal care for woman and their infants. Provide PMTCT prophylaxis to HIV exposed infants.

Education, Training and Experience
• Diploma in general nursing, midwifery, community and psychiatry
• Related qualification in primary health care
• Valid driver’s license with own transport
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Public Health and/or in a Paediatric environment
• Experience with working in an HIV related environment
• Experience working in antenatal and postnatal care

Key performance areas

• Provide postnatal care to women and their infants, including 3 day check-ups
• Screen, assess and physically examining patients (taking bloods, interpreting results, patient vitals)
• Make diagnosis and prescribe medication based on the disease progression
• Assess or investigate patient conditions as and when required
• Ongoing management of the patient
• Conduct HIV PCR testing, provide HIV counselling and testing, perform pap smears
• Monitor and evaluate patient care
• Educate and train family members on basic medical care for patients
• Administer infant Nevirapine and Cotrimoxazole as part of PMTCT prophylaxis according to national guidelines
• Provide continuous adherence counselling
• Strengthen and support referrals between clinics, hospitals and community structures
• Training and skills transfer
• Train and mentor DoH and WRHI staff in the provision of PMTCT clinical services for HIV exposed infants and HIV positive women
• Complete all relevant patient documentation and file it accordingly
• Complete the Desk Register to compile statistics (track and report)
• Compile monthly, quarterly and annual reports when necessary
• Complete attendance registers and timesheets (also sign off for staff)
• Ensure laboratory results are obtained from the lab before next visit
• Capture patient information accurately
