What will you be responsible for?
To manage the ore processing capability of the mining operation; the alignment of ore extraction strategy, policies and procedures to the mining plan and business objectives
Contract management of outsourced plant contractors
Effectively interfacing with other disciplines: Mining, Mineral Resources, Logistics, Engineering, SHE, Finance, Human resources and security
What will you be doing on a day to day basis?
Manage the crushing and screening operations
Prepare and control budget (operational and capital)
Ensure maximum productivity by optimizing operational resources (men, machinery and process)
Co-develop with Engineering Manager the maintenance budget and maintenance schedules
Directs team members
Support safety management program and regulatory compliance
Set, measure, manage and report on performance standards
Manage and coordinate contracts
Create team synergy, manage diversity and promote a high performance culture.
Contract management
Planning and scheduling
Logistics
Cost control
Support and administrative functions
Evaluation and reporting on contract work
Manage stakeholder relations including legal compliance.
Liaise with mining and logistics and provide required production targets to sustain market requirements
Provides technical consulting services to the management team by sharing in-depth knowledge within the discipline, providing relevant information and reports on progress against plans as well as assisting in identifying and solving plant and related problems
Audits compliance with governance frameworks and legal requirements
What minimum requirements and skills should we see in your cv?
Appropriate tertiary qualification(s) in metallurgical engineering or chemical engineering (NQF 7).
Preferred Qualification: Appropriate post graduate qualification(s) in metallurgical engineering or chemical engineering and/or extractions metallurgy or tertiary business qualification (Management Development Program, Executive Development Program, MBA) (NQF 8).
Mining Manager Certificate of Competence beneficial
10 years’ experience in mining/metallurgical processing
5 years’ experience in a managerial role
Demonstrated technical knowledge and vision to develop best practice principles in maximizing productivity, minimizing unit costs and maximizing earnings
Exposure to MS Office
Plant optimization experience and knowledge of the Mining Health and Safety Act
