Job Summary
The Plant Performance Engineer is responsible to identify, develop, maintain, and implement plans, processes and procedures for the identification of main performance and efficiency improvement areas as well as the implementation of cost-effective tools for the minimization of production losses.
Job Requirements

To define or redefine KPI’s based on international standards and based on the content of the main agreements (O&M, PPA, and EPC) and support the achievement of these.
To assure that the data used (inputs coming from meters, sensors, DCS, etc.) are accurate and valid.
To review the models provided by the EPC and/or customer, identifying the critical points affecting to the daily generation and creating the necessary tools for daily performance reporting and monitoring.
Assist the PGM and his/her team in conducting systematic performance analysis and reporting the results and deviations detected through the KPIs. Support the Operations Department generating the daily production forecasts based on weather forecasts to be internally and externally distributed.
Prepare reports and ensure they are properly submitted within the required timeframes.
Ensure daily reporting and losses calculation methodology are implemented in line with the corporate Performance Assurance Team.
Develop tools to be used for the different plants assessment activities such as performance optimization, production forecast and plant/systems efficiency monitoring. Generate procedures for the use of the developed tools.
Develop and conduct performance tests to assess equipment and process performance by comparing and analyzing data to identify trends, shifts, and abnormalities and report on same with recommendations.
Collaborating with Production Manager to optimize the use of the thermal energy storage system during peak generation hours. Develop and optimize new generation profiles better adapted to the grid’s power demand curve without penalizing the power plant efficiency.
Assist Operation department in continually monitoring overall plant equipment performance to recommend best operating practices and initiate changes to improve plant performance to ensure that key energy consumption and production targets are met.
Assist control department in defining, developing and fine-tuning control logic to optimize the overall performance of the plant.
Review all engineering associated with Thermal Energy Storage and HTF systems performance including balance of plant equipment.
Review and record all failure events, analyze trends and make recommendations as needed to improve plant’s availability.
General
The performances will be tracked trough multiples KPI’s including but not limited efficiency, energy produced, energy losses, etc.
This position has to maintain effective good ongoing relationships with the management team including Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager, Plant Manager, Country Manager and Director of Performances Assurance Team.

Requirement to hold GCC certification to take up the additional role of GMR2.1 NON NEGOTIABLE

Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor or master’s Degree in mechanical engineering with emphasis in energy technology (preferable)
4-6 years of experience in similar or relevant field
Power station experience as Plant Engineer
Awareness of Quality, Occupational Health & Safety and Environment Management system principles
