My client, a leader in the Diamond Mining industry is looking for a qualified and experienced Plant Superintendent at their Kimberley Underground Mine JV Unit. The Mine is situated in the town of Kimberley in the Northern Cape. The mine consists of 3 conventional slushier drift block cave mines.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who will be responsible to formulate production and extractive metallurgical operations to enhance diamond recovery effectiveness and diamond value management performance.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Control, monitor and authorise the planning of metallurgical functions
• Effective planning of departments activities to align and integrate with strategy
• Identify and correct instances where performance does not meet forecasted targets
• Identify, plan, resource and implement production and cost effectiveness measures
• Manage operations taking cognisance of legal and SHE constraints
• Meet expectations of external and internal customers
• Provide strategic leadership regarding market forces and competitor initiatives
• Support and participate in the formulation of business plans and strategic objectives for the Operation
• Ensure adherence to all company systems, practices and procedures

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12
• National Higher Diploma in Chemical Engineering or Extractive Metallurgy or relevant equivalent qualification
• A minimum of eight (8) years in the Metallurgical field of which five (5) years must have been at a Supervisory Level (e.g. Senior Plant Foreman/Plant Metallurgist)
• Valid drivers’ license (EB/08)
• Sound computer skills
