Our client, a leading international Pharmaceutical company is looking for and experienced and qualified Plastics Technician at their factory in
Aeroton in Johannesburg.

Reporting to - Production Manager: Extrusion

Job Purpose

To achieve continual improvement effectiveness of Extrusion Department through project implementation, i.e. Material, Plant and Equipment, Process, Product and Labour optimisation.

Required Learning

Minimum Qualification: Grade 12 Mathematics and Science
Certificate in Plastic Extrusion / Plastician Extrusion-related (PFSA)
Minimum Working Experience: 5 Years in Plastics Technology
Preferable: National Diploma or B Tech. in Plastics / Polymer Technology
Computer literate (MS Office and MS Project)

Key Job Outputs

Implement projects in PVC Blending / Compounding, PVC Sheet Extrusion, PVC/PE Pipe Extrusion, PE Blown Film Extrusion and Recycling Sections.
Successfully complete projects to Service Level Agreements (SLA requirements) for Development Investigations and Validation Protocols.
Achievement and enhancement of product quality standards (pharmaceutical components).
Recommend equipment and technology for CAPEX budget to Production Manager: Extrusion.
Perform Risk Analyses, Benchmarking, Measurement, etc. for product and process improvement and for machine performance and reliability. Recommend remedial action.
Effective process optimisation and trouble-shooting in all Sections.
Elimination of waste and scrap reduction through analysis of root causes and implementation of corrective measures for defect prevention and cost containment /reduction.
Effective corrective action and preventive action, i.e. Non-conformances (Hold Notices), Audit Points, Customer Complaints, Minor and Disabling Injuries and Product DPMs.
Produce Productivity, Quality, Project Reports and Work Procedures, as appropriate.
Implement / facilitate Plastic Skills training and coaching in all Sections.
Comply with OHS Act, SOPs and GMP regulations to ensure safety during project work.
Establish and maintain effective Equipment and Raw Material Supplier relationships.
