Portfolio Administrator (Institutional)

Description:

To perform the day-to-day administrative accounting activities, record keeping and liaison for institutional pension fund and individual clients, so as to ensure the smooth flow of information internally (for effective portfolio management) and externally (client records). To build and maintain exceptional client relationships.

Main responsibilities:

*To produce daily, monthly, quarterly and/or yearly client investment reporting so that clients are kept updated on the movements on their portfolios.

*To check own and colleagues external client reporting so as to ensure accuracy.

*To supply client and portfolio information internally (presenters, traders, portfolio managers, performance analysts, finance, risk analyst and IT) so as to ensure the smooth flow of information for effective portfolio management.

*To liaise and build relationships by supplying information to external sources (banks, asset consultants/administrators, auditors and clients) re queries pertaining to disinvestments/investments and portfolio transactions.

*To calculate, bill and ensure payment of the investment management fee as per the Portfolio Administration Agreement.

*To update and check cash and scrip reconciliations. Monitor cash and margin movements on equity-linked derivative positions to ensure account management accuracy.

*To maintain accurate record keeping and filing in both hard and computerised format so as to comply with legislative requirements.

Qualifications:

*Relevant degree/diploma (or equivalent) in accountancy, economics, mathematics/statistics (or related) would be preferred.
*Prior experience in portfolio administration, banking or investment related experience
*Working knowledge of the South African financial markets and instruments.
