Functional Summary
  • To provide operational and business support on the Point Of Sale and related systems to ensure optimal performance and smooth business functioning
  • To perform a variety of technical work and operational tasks necessary to support the Point Of Sale system used within the stores. This includes customer invoicing, stock management, front and back-office functionality, cash-ups, record reconciliations, audits, application support, reporting, system health-checks, daily/monthly routines and research that will ensure an optimum service to customers and business
  • To perform system configuration as required for business operations and perform thorough testing to ensure a high quality standard
  • To understand and ensure that the necessary IT governance policies and procedures are adhered to that will ensure quality of delivery and superior customer experience
 
Educational Qualifications / Experience Required
  • Minimum Qualification : IT Degree, National Technical Diploma or relevant practical experience
  • Minimum 5 years systems operational experience in an IT environment using Point of Sale systems to serve telecommunications post-paid customers
  • Experience in the support and maintenance of Point of Sale systems
  • Valid driver’s license with own reliable vehicle

Main Functions
 
Business Specification
  • Consult with Business Analyst during the compilation of specifications for business needs in collaboration with business, management and the vendor
  • Consult with Business Analyst on system configuration requirements to support the business rule and requirement information.
 
System Analysis
  • Review the existing business processes, system processes, system functionality and weigh that against business needs to determine gaps and future development roadmaps
  • Make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact operational effectiveness.
  • Perform system impact assessments for new business requirements
  • Ensure that system users are sufficiently empowered to perform their day-to-day functions via the system front-end. And to identify system gaps and propose possible enhancements to close them.
  • Identify and resolve causes of system inefficiencies that result in bad service to customers and business operations
 
Problem Solving & Solution Design
  • Collaborate across business, architecture and management to find the best way to address and resolve application challenges
  • Contribute to the design of solutions to help meet current and future
 
Operational Support
  • Act on tickets logged to you or your group in accordance with agreed Service Level
  • System uptime within SLA
  • Daily/Weekly/Monthly tasks are well documented and maintained and executed timeously and quality as per agreed service level
  • Relevant proactive monitoring tools, techniques and reports are implemented for all key system processes and functions
  • Timeous and accurate delivery of Management reporting
  • Support on project delivery and testing
  • Facilitate communication to system users on challenges, work arounds and progress on issue resolution.
  • Ensure all IT policies and procedures are enforced and adhered to
  • All necessary documentation is created and maintained as per the IT Operations policy

  • Know and understand who your customer is and what services you provide to that customer
  • Deliver service to your customer within agreed standards and expectations
  • Frequent communication and engagement with customers
