Position summary including major activities: Oversee general accounting and payroll operations. Reconciling accounts balances, bank accounts, maintaining the general ledger and preparing monthend closures. Leading and managing the team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
? Financial Accounting - Prepare and record transactions, maintain General journals (liabilities, revenues, expenses etc) and prepare for month end close procedures. - Cash book and dealing with the reserve bank - Debtors control accounts reconciliations - Creditor control accounts reconciliations - Trial balance reconciliation; maintaining and analysing financial information, maintaining and balancing subsidiary accounts - Manage company asset register
? Payroll Accounting: - Producing payroll by initiating the process, verify accuracy, authorization and completeness of the full payroll process - Ensure payroll journals are passed - Payroll control accounts schedule reconciliation - Provide payroll information for audit
? TAX Management and Accounting: TAX Computation, audit and returns - Ensure compliance with employee TAX: PAYE, COID and EMP501 - Ensure corporate TAX Compliance: Income and Provisional, VAT and any other related taxes
? Accounting Systems - System user for financial data storage, ensure that back up is done
? Administration - Assist with documenting and filing procedures and processes - Support to Financial Manager for data analysis - General office administration duties - Communication and providing financial information to all stakeholders - Setting up deadlines - Assist in Financial reporting
? Audit - Assist in ensuring a successful audit execution - Internal and External audits compliance
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
? Bachelor Degree in Accounting or any relevant degree in finance ? Certificate from Professional body will be an advantage
? 5 years’ experience as financial accountant ? Experience with general ledger functions, month-end closure procedure
? Hands-on experience with accounting software packages. ? Payroll packages particularly VIP, with experience in partnering with the HR team for successful payroll.
? Advanced knowledge in EXCEL is required
? Experience in managing a minimum of 2 accountants directly and managing at least 3 regional admin resources.
Specialist Knowledge required:
? Excellent leadership skills in collaborating with the accounts team
? Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
? Ensure compliance and understanding to GAAP
? Familiar with Financial Accounting Statements analysis
? Work closely and assisting the financial manager
