What will you be doing:

This position is calling for a Process and Sales Engineer for a South African company who is a manufacturer of vibrating mineral processing equipment; designing and supplying customized vibrating solutions to match a client’s exact screen, plant and process flow specifications. They supply screens, feeders, grease tables and drives in response to our clients’ mineral processing requirements throughout Africa and globally. The Client has extensive presence in gold, diamond, coal, iron ore, manganese, platinum, chrome, nickel, uranium, copper, mineral sands and aggregate operations. Their range of equipment and screens are manufactured in Chamdor, Krugersdorp where their Head Office is also situated. The ideal candidate will have exposure to vibrating equipment design as well as mineral processing, however, we will also consider candidates with the appropriate qualifications and who are willing and capable of being trained in-house on our particular products’ designs and manufacturing 

What will you be responsible for on a day to day basis:

The position will require the following broad description of technical and commercial responsibilities (both of which are equally important):

Sales:

  • All functions relating to the sales of vibrating equipment, from the enquiry to the commissioning stage
  • Liaise with and support existing clients
  • Submission of tenders
  • Compilation of quotations
  • Liaison with clients (Project houses, Mines)
  • Regular site visits
  • Maintenance and expansion of relationships with clients
  • Attend to after sales queries
  • Process Engineering: Equipment design
  • Site assessments
  • Monitor of product performance
  • Equipment audits
  • Maintenance contracts
  • Design improvements
  • Technical know-how and advice to client

IMPORTANT: The candidates MUST have experience on their type of product – i.e. vibrating screens used on the mines for mineral processing – this is non-negotiable. They must be able to answer this question with a “yes”

Do you have first-hand / direct experience with the design and sales of vibrating equipment used in mineral processing?

Do you have practical / hands-on experience on any mine in respect of mineral processing?

Do you have a tertiary qualification related to mining, or metallurgy, or mineral processing, or engineering? 

Minimum requirements I need to read about in your profile:

As a condition for permanent employment the successful candidate will be expected to master, inter alia, these specific duties:

  • Promote and maintain a sound long-term relationships with those clients allocated to his portfolio
  • This includes, but is not limited to: a. Managing and interpreting a client’s requirements; b. Process design audits and specification of equipment for new installations/projects; c. Compilation and submission of tenders, negotiating tender and contract terms to meet both the client’s and company’s needs; d. Commissioning of new equipment; e. Delivering on quality, pricing and lead times; f. Providing technical support to clients in respect of Company equipment installed in the field; g. Inspection and assessment of existing installations with a view to offering improved equipment.
  • Marketing and promotion of Company equipment and services in order to maintain existing client base and expand to new clients
  • Regular travelling to clients’ sites, across Southern Africa and abroad
  • Assist other members of the sales team with process and other technical issues where required
  • Assist the Spare Parts Department with technical details regarding the equipment installed at client’s operations
  • Improve Company equipment design
  • Retention of existing clients / business
  • Achieve further market penetration by securing new clients / business and identifying new opportunities
  • Ensure service and product delivery to clients in terms of their particular SLA’s
  • Contract management: Understand the peculiar requirements of each client in portfolio and comply with contractual obligations
  • Attend marketing and public relation events / exhibitions / conferences, in order to promote the company and network with clients & potential clients
  • Develop a deep understanding of the product in order to provide sound advice to clients and to present technical presentations
  • Constant feedback to company on S.W.O.T analysis.
