Procurement / Buying Manager required for a Technical Company based on the East Rand. JHB

Personal Requirements / Qualifications

• Diploma in Inventory Control, Member of SAPICS, or a Business Management Diploma
• 5 – 10 years experience in procurement and automotive/mining industry
• Knowledge of the Motor Industry an advantage
• Knowledge of Mining/Off Highway Industry an advantage
• Ability to negotiate at high level
• Aptitude for understanding technical issues and auto electrical equipment

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Seeking reliable vendors or suppliers to provide quality goods at reasonable prices
• Negotiating prices and contracts with both local and overseas suppliers
• Inventory management - determining order quantities and timing of deliveries to ensure that sufficient stock is always on hand.
• Liaison with departments and branches on stock requirements in order to ensure accurate planning of orders.
• Excess and obsolete stock
• Stock Turn
• SAP file maintenance
• Drawing of reports for management
• Brand Manager co-ordination and product development
• Performance Management of department staff
• Interviewing and appointing of new staff for the department
• Management of foreign supplier shipping and costing for best rates
• Product Training (new and existing products)
• Management of cash flow forecast for orders
• Liaise with forwarding companies

Computer skills:

Must be adept in use of MS Office 2000 or later, particularly Excel and Word, Internet and email as well as excellent working knowledge of SAP and Valogix systems
