Description

The Procurement Manager position encompasses the planning, organizing, controlling and managing of all the Procurement functions for the Company which includes negotiating the best possible prices and payment terms, determining optimal stock holding, establishing and maintaining very good relationships with major suppliers, rating supplier performance on a regular basis, ensuring that all purchases meet quality and quantity requirements and that deliveries deadlines are met.

Competencies Required:

• Relevant tertiary qualification.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a senior procurement position in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the chemical industry.
• Experience with import/export procedures, foreign exchange contracts, customs and excise etc.
• Fully computer literate, with experience in an ERP system, preferably Baan,
• Experience and ability to collect and analyse data.
• Ability to set and manage a budget.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Strong supervisory skills which includes good communication and people management skills.
• Excellent planning, organising and controlling skills are not negotiable.
• Previous relationships with suppliers in the Company’s industry would be an added advantage.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong sense of urgency.
• Code 08 driver’s license.
• Own, reliable transport.
