Staff Connection is seeking a Procurement Manager to join a property in Muldersdrift!KEY OUTPUTS:Directly manage and assume responsibility for a team of +/- 10 peopleCo-ordinate, plan and assume overall responsibility for the procurement and distribution of all necessary supplies to the company’s 7 lodges/camps, located on the northern circuit and in Zanzibar.Purchase quality supplies in a timely manner and at the lowest costCoordinate vendor activity and negotiationsEstablish, monitor and maintain optimal pricing with vendorsReview and approve purchase orders for compliance with company policy and ordering requirementsTake on the responsibility for efficient and cost-effective scheduling of deliveriesProvide necessary support for the lodges and co-ordinate the constant communication of order statusMaintain and improve proficiency in computerised ERP systems; be literate and functional with Microsoft Office, Word and ExcelAssist in the preparation and management of the departmental budgetParticipate actively in the strategy and direction of the procurement departmentEvaluate existing purchasing policy and recommend changes as needed, with a focus on continuously improving all aspects of the procurement processEvaluate existing and potential suppliers; recommend and implement changes in suppliers, with the goal of improving the availability of supplies and to continually improve pricing and delivery standardsMake recommendations on the use of substitute productDevise and implement methods to sell or dispose of dead and slow moving inventoryAssist in the hiring, training, evaluating, supervising and terminating of the department personnelSupervise weekly and monthly stock counts or as an when deemed necessaryPERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:Judgment and decision-making abilityDemonstrated integrity and ethical standardsEffective listening, communication (verbal and written), and negotiating skillsTeam player who works productively with wide range of peopleSKILLS REQUIRED:Great Communication skillsStrong leadership, motivation and managerial skillsSuperior organisational and problem-solving skillsAccuracy and attention to detailManages time effectively and adapts quickly to changing prioritiesExcellent excel and data analysis skillsKNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Demonstrated success managing inventory and logisticsExperience developing and implementing strategic sourcingDemonstrated competency in budgeting, forecasting and planningDemonstrated competency hiring, developing and evaluating employees to achieve company and personal objectivesProven history of profit and loss management to maximize financial performanceKnowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, inventory/warehouse management and distribution softwareWilling to travel when requiredMust be fluent in English. Fluency in Swahili an added advantagePREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Education: Bachelor’s degree in logistics or stock management or similar (preferred)Minimum 3 years in similar position (5 years preferred)Minimum 2 years in progressive position (3 years preferred)Wholesale, distribution experience required, Supervisory experience requiredSuperior abilities on MS Office products particularly Excel.Familiarity with Quickbooks/Sage ERP an assetShould you not receive a response within 2 weeks, please assume your application unsuccessful.
