POSITION: PROCUREMENT MANAGER (MUST BE BASED IN KZN)
REPORTING TO: MANAGING DIRECTOR

JOB PURPOSE:
To ensure that Marltons obtains quality products at competitive prices in a timely fashion. Play an integral role in ensuring that Marltons sticks to budgets and operates profitably. Strategizing to ensure Marltons remains price competitive and has alternate supplier options to existing suppliers. Ensure procurement team is effectively managed and trained. Ensuring the regional distribution of stock is in line with regional demand. Keep senior management informed of any opportunities or risks that could benefit or compromise the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement strategies for procuring, storing, and distributing goods or services and maintaining stock levels
• Negotiate with external vendors to secure advantageous pricing and terms
• Approve the ordering of necessary goods and services
• Finalize purchase details of orders and deliveries
• Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements
• Examine and review existing contracts
• Identify and research potential new suppliers
• Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
• Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of Marltons
• Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients
• Expect unfavorable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies
• Control spend and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
• Liaise with key company employees to determine their product and service needs
• Monitor business trends and product availability to pay the best price for company goods and services without sacrificing quality or delivery times
• Research new products and services to meet company's goals
• Assess total costs of company purchases

REQUIREMENTS
• Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain Management or related field
• At least 5years’ proven working experience as a Procurement Manager
• Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a skill in “reading” the market
• Talent in negotiations and networking
• A clear understanding of supply and demand management
• A good understanding of the import process
• Good knowledge of the rules and regulations that govern the pet care industry in South Africa and neighbouring countries
• Good knowledge of the Petcare industry in South Africa
• Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
• Experience in collecting and analyzing data
• Strong leadership capabilities
• Excellent negotiating skills
