A well-established company in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics manufacturing industry is looking for a competent and energetic Procurement Officer to join their team in Midrand.
Requirements:
• A tertiary relevant qualification is essential
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Procurement/Planning/Supply Chain environment
• Knowledge/ experience of import purchasing
• Experience in the Pharmaceutical/ Cosmetics/ Chemicals Manufacturing industry is an advantage
• Superior negotiating skills
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills
• Strong ability to prioritise
• Strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills
• Strong numeracy, decision making, and people skills
• Excellent supplier management skills
• Computer literacy - MS Office with high proficiency in MS Excel
• A self-starter with high levels of energy and drive
Duties:
• Setting and implementing procurement strategies
• Material and stock management; maintain raw and packaging materials at optimum stock levels
• Ensure orders are placed on time
• Ensure goods purchased are to specification in terms of quality, quantity and delivery
• Expediting purchase orders placed on suppliers
• Anticipate, troubleshoot and solve supplier problems
• Managing and maintaining supplier forecasts and delivery expectations
• Liaise closely with Procurement, Production and Financial department heads
• Maintenance of preferred supplier database
• Vendor contract management
• Liaising with suppliers and negotiating cost effective rates to improve profitability
• Compare specifications and prices of competitive items
• Evaluate price increases or material changes to orders and contracts already in force
• Ensure that price variations are communicated to relevant parties as quickly as possible
• Sourcing new suppliers
• Ensure effective controls and systems regarding procurement are maintained and complied to
• Ensure compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices
