My client is a multinational pharmaceutical company seeking to employ a Procurement Specialist.


Minimum Requirements:

• Tertiary or equivalent qualifications in purchasing/business related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a related environment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work well with other departments in a team setting.
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Ability to make decisions on a day to day basis concerning normal activities

Role:

The primary responsibility of the Specialist, Procurement is to perform routine and non-routine ordering, planning and scheduling functions for ‘strategic’ items. Order goods to company specifications as outlined in Specification Sheets and perform all necessary clerical functions required of the position.

Of critical importance to the successful execution of this role is
• the ability to engage with key stakeholders and to act as a liaison between suppliers and company departments
• Prepare contracts, assuring specifications, costs, terms and any special provisions are correct and ready for the appropriate approvals.
• Place contracts, ensure compliance with corporate policy and verify acknowledgment and acceptance of contract and advise the departments as necessary.
• Subject matter expert for the area.
• Project leader/team member for Purchasing requirements
• Keep informed on cost of goods, pricing trends, inventories and other matters that will result in minimising cost of purchased items.
• Provides advice to other departments on strategic purchasing activities that, due to their specific nature, can only be performed by the staff members involved.
• Global Change Management team member (Change control process)
• Ensures that goods, materials and services are procured in accordance with specific requirements as to quantity and quality, on the due date and at an advantageous price.
• Audit strategic purchase orders for price, terms and delivery; place purchase order with suppliers.
• Arrange for shipment of supplies to minimise delivery costs yet stay within the schedule.

The Specialist, Procurement sits within the Commercial Operations organization and reports to Manager, Procurement, South Africa, GSM.
