My client is looking for a candidate that has a passion for Product Development, is creative and gets seriously excited about developing new products.

The position of Product Developer involves developing, documenting and launching new products or alterations on existing products, focusing on fresh and processed meats and seasonings for the butcheries, meat processors, chicken processors and fish processors and the general food manufacturing industry

Scope excludes the HMR (Home Meal Replacement range) department

Essential requirements :

Relevant tertiary education of a minimum of a 3 year diploma or degree in Food Technology or Food Science or Food Consumer Science: Food & Nutrition

Up to 1 years’ experience in product development of fresh or processed meats or technical ingredients and seasonings for fresh or processed meats.

Having an understanding of (and experience conforming to) the current South African Food legislation (Foodstuffs, Cosmetics and Disinfectants [Act No 54 of 1972]) relating to fresh or processed meats or technical ingredients and seasonings for fresh or processed meats or general food manufacturing.

Be fluent in English with excellent report writing skills in English.

Be meticulous and neat; show pride in their work and be thorough and accurate in every task they undertake.

Be willing to eat pork containing products and all types of animal meats and organs and spicy food products containing chillies, when required.

Fully bilingual in two languages (English, Afrikaans or Xhosa).

Own transport or valid Code 08 drivers license will be highly advantageous

Experience in conforming to the R146 and R1091 food labelling regulations at a food company.
