REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

ND / BSc: Food Science / Consumer Science / Food Technology
3 - 5 years relevant experience in product development
Computer literacy in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong communication and presentation skills (oral & written)
Accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to function well in a dynamic, team environment (team player), with a positive hands-on /practical approach
The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, have high energy levels with a quality focused output.
Knowledge of technical processes, principles and label legislation is essential
Good time management and organizational skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and able to use own initiative.
Valid driver's licence

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

New product development, alterations and assigned to own projects.
Assist with developing leading edge, innovative and high quality products
Assist with projects from conception through trials to launch
Interfaces and assist frequently with various internal departments (e.g. Marketing, Sales, Purchasing, QC and Production) in accomplishing the departments project milestones.
Assisting with the sourcing and testing of new raw materials for new developments and liaising with the purchasing department.
Candidates need to eat all meat species and pork
Assist with product development, product support and recipe formulations for the retail supermarkets, food manufacturers and food service & catering industry
Update and maintain product specifications, retail documentation and product flavour profiles.
Loading of new raw material codes and updating information on all databases and excel sheet documents.
Assist with the developing of new recipes for new variation recipes or new products to be launched.
Defines project objectives, organizing and prioritizing tasks and conducting experiments and analyses.
Manage the sample distribution of existing and new developed products.
Collect and interpret information regarding the results of NPD product samples and existing product samples sent out to distributors and customers
