Job Description

Provide efficient & effective technical services in design & development, product execution, test & fault analysis of plastic components & assemblies
Responsible for product management, planning of projects and status reporting
Establish & compile project & timing plans
Establish control plans for products in order for conformance to specification at design release and ongoing processes are done as requested
Make use of the company’s new & used technology when designing & developing new plastic products in order for local/international competition to take place within the business plan
Design & develop new plastic products that meets the customers specifications, required technology all within the budget costs and on time
Liaise with customers/licensors for receiving correct timeous technical information needed for plastic product design & development
Develop and submit approval request information/documentation for approval of products
Collaborate with suppliers relating to the development of new products. Must manage the APQP processes and technical support
Responsible for the research and making informed decisions on the resin material options
In charge of testing of new project & engineering specifications
Must give technical support in FMEA processes
Evaluate current plastic products in regards to design improvements and to help reduce costs where possible
Must ensure quality, safety, health & environmental requirements are met in order to produce the best project planning processes
Responsible for any trainees
Responsible for the bills of materials used for development. Accuracy and auditing
Liable to the Product Engineering for KPA’s execution
Collaborate within the SBU’s of the company in sustaining sound project coordination where other SBU’s are involved
General admin, value analysis & value engineering

Minimum Requirements

N Dip - Mechanical Engineering / Technical Diploma
Grade 12
2-3 years related experience
Skilled in Project Management
Proficient in MS word / MS project / MS excel
Experience in MRP/ERP, APQP, FMEA and PPAP
Design & drawing experience is essential
Required experience in product development with automotive parts
Knowledge in injection mould tooling, injection moulding processes and resin materials
Valid driver’s license
