We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Product Engineer to join a dynamic manufacturing team based in Pinetown.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Matric
2. National higher Diploma - Mech Eng (T4 or S4) / S3 with plan for S4 Plastics technology Diploma.
3. 3 years related experience.
4. Project management skills.
Computer Literacy:
• MS WORD / MS EXCEL / MS PROJECT
• MRP / ERP experience.
• APQP experience.
• PPAP experience.
• FMEA experience.
• Problem solving skills.
• Design and drawing experience.
• Product development experience with automotive products.
• Knowledge of injection moulding processes.
• Knowledge of injection mould tooling.
• Knowledge of Resin materials.
Job Description
• Provide competent and effective technical services required in the design and development, product implementation, testing and fault analysis of plastic components and assemblies.
• Project management, project planning and report generating.
• Value analysis and value engineering. General administration.
• Design and develop new Plastic products, utilising new / current technology to enable local / international competition in line with business plan.
• Manage new project and engineering specification testing.
• Project planning, project management and status reporting.
• Develop project plans and timing plans.
• Develop control plans for products to ensure conformance to specification at design release and ongoing production.
• Liaise with licensors / customers to obtain timeous technical information and ensure its relevant utilisation in plastic product design and development.
• Compile and submit approval request documentation for product approvals.
• Liaise with suppliers with regard to the development of new products
• technical support and management of the APQP process.
• Assess current Plastic products in view of design improvements and cost reduction.
• Ensure that Quality, Safety, Health and environmental requirements are incorporated into and achieved in the project planning process.
• Liaise within the SBU’s of the company in maintaining sound project co-ordination where other SBU’s are involved.
• Responsible for the detail design and technical analysis of products in line with the agreed design route and technology.
• Responsible for bill of materials development, accuracy and auditing.
• Responsible for project planning and product management.
• Responsibility rests with the incumbent to ensure that the company’s liability is protected in respect of prescribed Quality / products / service, safety and environmental standards set by the executive
