Sovereign Foods, a national supplier of top quality poultry products to markets via various brands is seeking to employ a Hatchery Production & Operations Manager for its operations in the Agriculture department. This position is based in the Eastern Cape. The successful incumbent will be an innovative, pro-active and results orientated individual that will strive to support the production units in their pursuit of world-class results and achieving the company’s target hatchery output volumes at the agreed cost. The ideal candidate will be in possession of a Grade 12 certificate; with 5 years, high level operational and managerial or poultry quality and systems experience. A tertiary degree in a commercial or agricultural field will be advantageous. This position reports to the Senior Production Manager.

Results Required
The successful candidate must be able to achieve the following results:
Achievement of agreed KPI’s:
a.Day Old Chicks produced;
b.Hatch percentage;
c.Egg breakages;
d.Hygiene and cleaning requirements;
e.Chick quality;
f.Cost control
- Staff management-Daily reporting
- Updating and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures

Critical Competencies and Skills
- Good analytical skills and able to initiate and take corrective action;
- Excellent managerial and communication skills;
- Great degree of knowledge and understanding of Poultry physiology and embryology
- Excellent knowledge of Hatchery Operations
- Assertive but approachable;
- Attentive to detail with a systematic and methodical approach.
