RedCat Recruitment is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR for a manufacturing company based in Pietermaritzburg.

JOB DESCRIPTION / REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12.
Relevant qualification an advantage but not essential.
Valid driver’s license.
Competent computer skills (MS Office, Email / Internet).
3 years’ previous experience as Shift Supervisor in a manufacturing environment is ESSENTIAL.
Responsible for ensuring that their shift performs optimally and that all relevant procedures and standards are followed and maintained.
Report to work station at appointed time with equipment required to perform duties safely and efficiently.
Receive and carry out instructions from management.
Liaise with Foreman from previous shift to establish problems or changes in mixing schedule to ensure continuation of mixing.
Check equipment safety devices (emergency stops, safety bars and stop wires) and scale accuracy at the start of each shift and to keep records of such checks.
Ensure that all work stations operate correctly and efficiently.
Ensure that production and mechanical problems are sorted out without delay.
Identify and segregate non-conforming materials and participate in investigations and corrective action.
Ensure that finished compound pallets / bins / boxes are weighed and recorded accurately.
Monitor and improve the performance of the department.
Arrange substitute labour for absent employees.
Submit a Shift Report (productivity, rework, absenteeism, etc) to Manager on a daily basis.
Adhere to the housekeeping and safety standards of the company.
Implement and carry out instructions for the implementation and continuation of the Quality
Management System adopted by the company.
