Job Overview:
The job incumbent is responsible for the organisation and co-ordination of production resources (people, technical) in order to achieve the production plan, meet internal and external quality standards and ensures the safety and environmental compliance of the plant.

Main Responsibilities:
Provide an environment in which employees can work safely.
Drive the initiatives related to safety improvement, guided by the organisation’s safety improvement strategies
Contribute and agree to short and medium term production planning in co-operation with Planning, Purchasing and Logistics
Lead the manufacturing sector contribution to identifying losses and contribute to the establishment of loss trees
Ensure the fulfilment of environmental and quality guidelines provided by Corporate and given legal regulations in the area of responsibility
Contribute to a continuous optimisation of manufacturing processes and of the organisation and KAIZEN projects
Lead continuous interactive communications and information transfer on issues, targets and proposals for improvements
Ensure the maintenance and continuous optimisation of manufacturing facilities within the area of responsibility in line with agreed costs
Ensure detailed and timeous reporting and analysis of safety and operations key performance indicators and metrics
Identify and drive development programs, comprising training and development for associates within control – to effect competent, efficient and safe operations
Ensure compliance to the company’s corporate guidelines of governance pertaining to operational activities and transactions

Qualifications:
University degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Engineering, Food Science or related OR
Tertiary engineering Diploma with 10 years operations experience, 5 years in a supervisory role
Min. 8 years manufacturing experience in a related industry
Experience must include detailed knowledge of chemical manufacturing as well as some knowledge of the following: Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Regulatory and HR.
Proficient in English
Advanced technical or business degree preferred
Experience in additional Operations functional areas preferred
