DUTIES

Management of and reporting of out of control situations, e.g. budget, safety, quality, manpower shortages, industrial relation
Planning of the manufacturing operations and, manage all manufacturing operation on site.
Ensure Daily, weekly and monthly detailed patrols exist with a focus on safety, quality and performance outputs
Ensure all visual management is updated and key performance outputs communicated timeously
Ensure development of AM practitioners within the department and the WCM route map planned and executed for Production
Ensure escalation triggers defined and all after hours’ work managed in accordance with plant objectives
Ensure the facility operates 24 hours by monitoring and tracking performance and other metrics continuously
Maximize productivity and quality as well as to conduct Ergonomic Studies (Human – Machine Interface).
Implementation of corrective actions where non-conformities are
The management of environmental, health and safety, production efficiency, quality, stock management and
Consistently review the needs of the site introducing new technology as well as setting out the capital investment requirements in line with Group best practice policy.
Managing performance, training and development of
Empower team through care and growth of people by providing people with the means (resources, tools, authority) the ability (training – how and why) and accountability (reward, recognize, standards, censure and punish)
Ensure the Plan adherence Schedules target are achieved
Investigate and implement countermeasures for the failure of PSA
Investigate stock variances and implement countermeasures
Confirmation of production orders on SAP
Ensure Reduction in production downtime and Human errors are kept to a World Class level
Develop SOP’s, OPl’s and other best practice documents for the department and ensure a training matrix exists and these SOP’s are implemented
Drive Autonomous maintenance and ensure all cleaning activities occur as per schedule
Ensure 5S standards are achieved for the Production area’s
Involve the team in yearly business and strategic planning with the Business strategic plan as an output. Ensure the objectives and goals set and met for the department
Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices are applied to the handling of raw materials and additives throughout the process
Support stock counts and drive down wastage of all raw materials. Investigate variances and trend areas of non-value activities
Clarify roles and tasks – Develop and empower team members. Ensure OOO’s and PDR’s are conducted monthly
Full World Class Manufacturing (WCM) function: Manage and expand WCM strategy at the plant level, maintaining a consistent approach and ensuring targets including cost reduction are
Educating staff in the principles and opportunities arising from
Liaise with all other supply stakeholders to drive optimization within the process, ensure redlights are managed with the Warehouse department and proactive support of planning takes place so no out of stocks take
Develops WCM audit assessment systems and process audits. Conducts process and SOP confirmations
Defining and communication of WCM best practice, tools and techniques and developing external
Development of internal and external benchmarking in manufacturing and supply chain. Analyze and have input into Benchmarking
Process design, analysis, and work-study. Liaise and work with the process department to ensure no wastage and high yield in all plants
Implementation of manufacturing projects as per the Annual plan and losses are stratified as per cost deployment and areas of opportunity identified into tangible WCM savings
Ensure absenteeism and all overtime work is minimized

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial)
WCM instructor (if internal applicants only)


EXPERIENCE

5 – 7 years’ experience in an FMCG/Manufacturing environment (24 /7) running plants
At least 3 years’ management/ supervisory experience within an FMCG/Manufacturing environment
SAP knowledge and experience
Awareness of ISO international standards and systems
Proactive Management Activities (TPM, TQM, WCM, 5S, AM)
Budgeting and cost management skills
Negotiating skills
Good presentation skills
WCM knowledge and project experience
High Attention to detail and analytical
