Our Cape Town based Pharmaceutical client is looking for a Production Pharmacist to be based at their Cape Town site/plant. The purpose for the appointment is to manage production operations to execute the agreed supply plan in accordance with statutory requirements and duties and ensures compliance within the division. The successful incumbent will personally supervise a maximum of 3 Pharmacist Assistants working in the Value Stream as Packing Leaders.

Qualifications & Experience : Minimum of B Pharm or BSc Pharm, Registered as a pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council;Ideally 5 years experience within a pharmaceutical production environment, with some experience at a managerial level. However prepared to develop from within.

Must have the following attributes/Knowledge

* A good understanding and knowledge of Good Manufacturing Principles.
* A good understanding, knowledge and applicability of the Regulatory (MCC) requirements within a manufacturing environment.
* A good understanding and knowledge of the Site and Value Stream's EHS and QMS requirements.
* A detailed knowledge and understanding of various production processes, that is within the area of responsibility
* A good understanding of manufacturing systems and principles e.g. MRP systems
* A good understanding of business processes and controls within area of responsibility.
* Sound management skills in order to effectively manage people, and interrelate within different levels in the organization
* A good understanding of the importance of and how to teach and coach personnel
* Ability to write Technical Reports, etc.
* A good understanding of the company’s Production System, the GPS standards and its integrated approach
* Working knowledge of Microsoft packages – EXCEL, POWERPOINT and WORD.

* Balance the demands for supply with that of Regulatory, Quality & Safety requirements -.
* Balance the demands for production with that of effective utilization of resources.
* Strive for continuous productivity improvement, whilst maintaining compliance to EHS, GMP and general regulatory compliance
* Generally solve problems and take decisions required to optimize the performance of the Value Stream.
Responsibility:
* Compliance with Pharmacy Act 53 of 1974 and Medicines & Related Substances Act 101 of 1965 requirements
* Ensure manufacturing compliance to GMP, safety (product and personal) and relevant regulatory authorities
* Accountable for producing good quality products safely and escalating problems due to poor performance in the Value Stream.
* Manages manufacture of company’s product to support sales objectives
