The key responsibility of the Production Pharmacist is to ensure the maintenance and execution of cGMP controls within the factory.

1. Responsible for executing compliance related tasks such as Process Checks, Line Clearance, Line Opening and the review of Batch Manufacturing and Packaging Records. Will support waste handling process to ensure compliance with EHS, Finance and GMP requirements.
2. Will participate in the investigation of and report writing related to any deviations and customer complaints within packaging.
3. Will be delegated the responsibilities under the QMS framework. This could include representing the department during audits, providing technical knowledge, remediating sub-system gaps and upskilling operators on GMP and operational issues.

Primary Activities
1. Lead/participate in and write investigations related to Deviations and Complaints.
2. Lead/participate in Quality Risk Management activities.
3. Initiate and review new manufacturing and packaging protocols and batch manufacturing records (BMRs).
4. Support production activities to ensure ongoing compliance with cGMP
5. Support in ensuring the site is permanently inspection ready with regard to GMP requirements.
6. Updates SOPs and conducts training.
7. Help with Management of EMS alarms
8. Approve BOMS
9. Verification that Line Cleaning, Line Opening and the status of material received into manufacturing or packaging is correct.
10. Review and closure of BMRs
11. Follow up on on-going internal and external audit actions. Ensure that commitments are met on time.
12. Conducting annual equipment reviews of equipment (consolidating data from different quality systems)

2. Backup for QMS Documentation
3. Backup for QMS – Packaging Control

Qualifications/ skills
1. Minimum a tertiary qualification in Pharmacy / Registration with the S.A. Pharmacy Council
2. Good interpersonal skills.
3. Good verbal and written communication skills.
4. People Management skills.
5. Excellent writing / documentation skills
6. Demonstrated ability to problem solve
7. Excellent attention to detail required.

Experience required
1. Bachelor of Pharmacy
2. 2 years operations experience.
3. Computer literacy: MS Office, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint
4. Ability to work in cross-functional teams
5. Communication Skills, Written, Oral and Presentation;
6. Decision Making
7. Self-driven, self-motivated and pro-active.
8. Must be familiar with GMP systems and how they interlink.
