Job Title : Production Specialist DL (Process)
Reports To : Production Superintendent
Purpose Of The Job
: To be the continuous improvement driver of the Metallurgical process through reporting on and analysing production performance, making recommendations and implementing projects in a safe manner
Qualifications and Experience :
• Relevant Chemical or Metallurgical B.Eng./BSc. (Eng.) Degree or National Diploma with specialization in Chemistry or Metallurgy
• Four (4) years’ experience gained in pyro-metallurgical operations (BOF, Steel Plant, DC furnaces, Sub Arc Furnaces)
• Computer Literacy (MS Office/SAP)
The following will be advantageous:
• Minimum of one year experience in a Supervisory or Management capacity
• A recognized managerial qualification
Job Responsibilities :
• Achieve process quality and budget
• Ensure customer satisfaction
• Update process strategy
• Implement Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) findings
• Update SAP Master data
• Report on process measures
• Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence
• Research, analysis and development for continuous improvement of metallurgical processes at the furnaces. This includes technical report writing, Mass and energy balance development and presentation of results.
• Management of projects, which includes control of project budgets and delivery of results and recommendations on time
• Ensure proper integration of improvement projects
• Training and coaching of subordinates
• Financial Management
• Performing Standby duties
• Act in a higher level as and when required.
• Work overtime as and when required.
• Ensuring OHSA Safety & Health standards are maintained.
• Ensuring conformance with Quality and Environmental standards.
