The Company

The Job:

The essential function of the Production Supervisor is to provide leadership and direction to personnel in a pro-active and hands on manner in the de-boning, trimming, packing and storage of meat and meat products, including cutting and packaging of muscle meats and value-added items (e.g. sausages, burgers, kebabs, among others).

You will carry out the production requirements of the department according to good food manufacturing practices while maintaining proper standards of quality assurance, safety, and employee relations. Excellent customer orientation is essential.

You will be accountable for all aspects of the departmental processing operation including yield, quality and cost achievement, as well as controlling stock levels of finished products and packing material. This must be achieved in line with the business’ policies and procedures, whilst developing the team and quality culture on site.

KRA’s:

· Maintain and ensure the safety of all employees through training, enforcement of safety rules and compliance with all internal policies and procedures.

· Ensure daily production planning scheduling is done and monitored, maintaining close communication with Sales department

· Drive departmental efficiencies and maximize productivity.

· Monitor and control inventory levels and yields.

· Work closely with Sales Administrator in terms of costing and client expectations

· Keep record of and monitor labor costs in regards to staffing and overtime.

· Monitor machinery to maintain quality and minimize downtime.

· Monitor product quality (with quality staff) and flow to meet customer demands and requirements.

· Promote and maintain teamwork among employees.

The successful candidates:

· Meat Cutting Technician certificate or In-house Blockman training

· Matric with Production Management Diploma a bonus

· Computer literate on MS Office suite including excel

· Good administration ability

· Minimum of 5 years hands on experience in a meat processing environment

· Ambition to personally develop and quickly learn new processes

· Ability to work with and provide leadership to hourly personnel.

· Desire to promote within the organization.
