PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To prepare, evaluate technical quality and edit the contents of programs in accordance with the Company policy for transmission.

REQUIREMENTS
• Evaluate content and technical quality of scheduled programmes
• Compile reports and final control sheets with great care and accuracy
• Select ad breaks at appropriate places
• Select age indicator and symbols
• Update content meta data including durations on the MAM system
• Organise bookings at transfer facilities
• Advise on suitability of programme content for scheduling purposes
• Answer programme content queries from the public and other sections
• Communicate any queries and problems to the manager of the department
• Liaise with materials coordinator regarding programme arrivals.
• Check arrivals of international programmes and make sure that the running order is correct
• Thorough knowledge of the Editorial Policies and Broadcast Code.
• Writing of a well thought through programme synopsis
• Liase between Channel Manager and producer and provide technical and editorial feedback

Qualification
• Essential: Matric

Professional Membership
• Desirable: Diploma in Film and Television or Communication degree with Media studies

Experience
• Essential: Minimum 3 years of Content Production, Broadcasting and/or Commissioning experience
• Desirable: 3 – 5 years’ experience in Programme Acceptance or Content Production / Commissioning

KNOWLEDGE
• Broadcast Legislation, Regulations, ICASA's Code of Conduct, BCCSA judgements / rulings as well as Films & Publications Board Ratings.
• Broadcast value chain, scheduling and material preparation for broadcast.
• Broadcast Editorial Policy.
• File and tape-based operation / basic editing systems.
• Target audience's value-systems (e.g. Religious belief systems; attitudes to language, violence and nudity/sex).
• Technical Broadcast specifications
• Content Production

• Computer literacy (MS Office)
• Attention to detail and meticulous accuracy.
• Finely honed Editorial and Technical judgement skills
