The Sustainability Institute, Lynedoch, Stellenbosch is looking for an energetic, experienced coordinator to work with our Agroecology team.
The key responsibility of the Programme Delivery Coordinator (PDC) role is to provide support to the Programme Director (PD) in coordinating and supporting all student learning and growth processes and ensuring all aspects of social support to students. This function will be delivered through the Programme Director, who will maintain a strategic focus. The position will report directly to the Programme Director.

The successful candidate will have the following broad responsibilities:
? Meeting strategic objectives and creating culture of the Academy;
? Co-creating a dynamic learning environment through rituals, workplace practices and feedback processes;
? Provide support to the Head Farmer (HF) in terms of:
o Strategically manage the Sustainability Institute (SI) Food Garden, as a productive organic garden and learning space
o Planning production in close consultation with SI Hospitality Team
o Supporting the HF to plan and manage garden budget
o Ensuring the HF is operationalising production plan efficiently
o Delivering together with the HF practical training to Agroecology students
? Ensuring the provision of:
o Personal development training
o Technical training and in house practicals
o Workplace placement practicals
o Psycho-social support, co-ordination, and administration
? Co-designing and continuously reviewing the curriculum to meet the strategic objectives;
? Co-managing, leading and influencing the students in every aspect of the programme including:
o Student recruitment and selection
o Student retention with an emphasis on learning and social support
o Student monitoring, evaluation and feedback
o Student graduation, exit process and alumni support
? Providing administrative support for all aspects of the learning process, including learning reports;
? Participating in relationships with key stakeholders throughout the process

Specific responsibilities of the PDC include, but are not limited exclusively, to the following areas:
? Student policy development
? Engagement of Service providers and Facilitators
? Support the PD in the implementation of the project;
? Coordinate student’s activities in every aspect of the project including:
o Student recruitment and selection
o Student monitoring, evaluation and feedback
? General student affairs including regular group contact sessions
? The coordination of the mentorship and volunteer programme
? Student retention with an emphasis on learning and social support
o Facilitating sessions with students
o Mentoring students on a one-on-one basis
o Liaising with interns , mentors and coaches
o Co-developing course material as necessary
o Having a consistent visibility in the classroom(s)
? To be regularly present in the classroom throughout the year
? To provide a level of group coaching and facilitation
? To be responsible for the ongoing assessment of participants, and ensuring that all learning support is in place
? To provide a first point of contact for counselling or external referrals if needed for personal issues
? Provide input into the curriculum
? Provide administrative support for all aspects of the learning process, including financial and learning reports
? Devise and manage the internal assessment criteria for participants for modules which are not being externally assessed
? Coordinate and provide onsite support for job placements
? Liaise with all learning and social service providers for implementation;
? Engage with key stakeholders throughout the process.
? Student graduation and Alumni support:
o Coordinating all aspects of the student exit from the Academy on graduation
o Ensuring on-going support for job search post-graduation
o Creating an alumni network for on-going support
o Coordinating Academy support for job placements
o Ensuring alumni attendance at major Academy events to showcase successful graduates

Requirements:
? Background in Agriculture or permaculture or organic farming is necessary;
? Minimum of five years’ experience in a relevant field such as education, adult learning or social development;
? Tertiary educational qualification in agriculture, education, social sciences or related areas;
? Excellent personal relationships and an ability to bridge and connect all communities;
? Strong self-leadership and emotional intelligence;
? Initiative and ability to take on, lead and complete projects;
? Administrative, financial management and report writing skills;
? Strong communication and presentation skills;
? An understanding of adult learning and the ability to coach and facilitate;
? Fluency in either isiXhosa or Afrikaans;
? Ability to speak and deliver reports in English;
? South African citizenship;
? Willingness to work long hours;
? Knowledge of NQF and SETA requirements will be an advantage.
? Experience working with and interacting with people in the agricultural sector will be an advantage;
? Valid driver’s licence.
