Our client focusing on Infrastructure development in Africa, urgently looking to employ a Project Accountant in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Start date: January 2016 or earlier if possible.

Salary: R800k – R1 million per annum. 13th Cheque, with no medical and no pension.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting or a relevant field
• 5-10 years’ experience in the field of Project Accounting
• Computer literacy with advanced experience on MS Excel
• Good understanding of Project Management
• Good understanding of budgets and timelines
• Knowledge of project contracts

• The person must be able to work in a fast paced working environment and be able to manage pressure.
• Must have projects experience but it would be of an advantage if the person has worked on construction projects/gas or oil pipeline projects etc.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create the project accounts in the accounting system
• Maintain project related accounting records, including contracts, invoices, statements….
• Authorize access to project accounts
• Review and cost supplier invoices related to specific projects and forward to project manager for approval
• Authorise transfers of expenses into and out of accounts related to specific projects
• Record time sheets for work completed on or related to specific projects as may be required
• Review and provide variance analysis on the project costs (actual to budget to forecast) to Management
• Communicate and report on project financial position to Management
• Prepare and track all project accruals for activities incurred not yet invoiced, based on agreed milestones
• Communicate and provide feedback to the Cost Engineer when additional details are requested.
• Liaise with the Finance Corporate team to ensure there is alignment between the cost accounting in the project and in the books of the Group.
• Provide any additional costs reports as may be necessary to the group and to JV partners
• Prepare Quarterly Board reports for the JV partners and the Board of our client
• Close out project accounts upon project completion and transfer the costs to the asset register
• Compile information for internal and external auditors when required.
• Compile and submit tax returns related to projects
• Provide a report to management on the remaining funding available for projects
